    Dorothy<\/span><\/i> was the first-ever quilt completed by the Quiltfolk Foundry.<\/span><\/p>

    In October 2022, members of the Quiltfolk team met in San Diego to attend the annual seminar of the American Quilt Study Group (AQSG). At the closing-night banquet, AQSG held its yearly (and notoriously raucous) auction to raise money for the organization. When the auctioneers brought out the antique blue and white quilt top that would eventually become <\/span>Dorothy<\/span><\/i>, it was Quiltfolk founder Mike McCormick who made the first bid.<\/span><\/p>

    It was fitting that our longtime friend Kennette Blotzer of Springfield, Oregon, completed our first Foundry quilt. We selected a plain, muslin backing fabric for <\/span>Dorothy<\/span><\/i>, choosing to keep her vintage look intact. Kennette loaded the pretty blue and white top onto her longarm and quilted it with a Baptist Fan motif, a favorite design at the Quiltfolk Foundry.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We seek out lost tops and blocks that are in good condition, but due to the source material\u2019s age and care history, some imperfections in the finished quilts may be present. We hope you\u2019ll see them as we do, just another part of the story.
