    We can\u2019t know for sure why the person who began this quilt didn\u2019t finish it, but Quiltfolk Foundry quilter Stephanie Capps Dyke had some thoughts. \u201cThe original maker may have gotten frustrated because of the nature of the fabrics; some are twill weave. And the machine-sewn seams are narrow. But with a few patches and some big-stitch quilting, <\/span>Jacob<\/span><\/i> really shaped up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    The block the piecer chose goes by various names, such as Road to California<\/span>, <\/span><\/i>Stepping Stones<\/span>, <\/span><\/i>and Jacob\u2019s Ladder. Building on the work of a quilter from the past feels a little like climbing the next rung on a ladder, so we thought <\/span>Jacob <\/span><\/i>was the perfect name for this Foundry quilt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Of all the quilts created in the Foundry\u2019s first batch, <\/span>Jacob<\/span><\/i> is definitely the most cuddly and soft, likely due to the big-stitch quilting and the warmth of the yarn-dyed woven gingham on the back.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We seek out lost tops and blocks that are in good condition, but due to the source material\u2019s age and care history, some imperfections in the finished quilts may be present.
